Will the real (DAR ancestor) Charles Butler please stay put?

Charles Butler, my DAR ancestor, wrote that he was from Craven County. But he lived in Sampson County, or did he.....

“The Butlers settled on Little Cohera and Great Cohera Creeks in [‘what is now,’ plr] Sampson County in the 1750s.

Charles Butler bought land on Little Cohera east of what is now Roseboro
in 1769. Robert Butler lived
west of Great Cohera.
~Book of Butlers
by Marilee Butler.

Charles Butler
born c 1746, Craven Co.
died c 1819, Sampson Co.

Note that through the years the same spot, Roseboro, had the following counties as host:
1712: Craven
1729: New Hanover
1750: Duplin
1784: Sampson

I will add maps to a subsequent post. For now, suffice to say that even the first land bought by Charles' father, Robert Butler, may too have been located in what eventually became Sampson County even IF it was originally Albemarle County (because all of NC was Albemarle), or even Chowan or Bertie, as the counties subsequently were named!

Yeah, I'm related to Robert E Lee, but not through my maiden name (Lee)!

My maiden name is Lee, and I'm always asked, "Are you related to Robert E. Lee." The answer appears to be, "yes, but not directly." But not through my Lee branch. Instead, it's through my paternal grandmother's side, Jonnie Louise Higdon. Here's a bmp I hope loads. It's two pages long. Grandmother's lineage goes back to the Immigrant Richard Lee who was also an ancestor to Robert E. Lee. So, yep, Robert E. Lee is my (distant) cousin. Funnier still I should be related through my great great grandmother Sarah Margaret Parrott Higdon (her surname was Parrott!).

Here's the vertical pedigree chart:

I hope this is big enough for all to see.

My maiden name is Lee, but I'm not related to Richard Lee The Immigrant, through that line. It's through my Parrott line!
